I know I’m not the first person to complain like a beaten housewife about this, but the uSocial blog was just hacked by a group of quite well-known Iranian hackers, which I believe were the same insignificant band of micro-organisms who for a time re-routed Twitter’s DNS in late 2009.

In case you missed it, the hack resulted in the blog’s theme being messed up and some message about freeing Iran from the US, something about Obama, as well as some other random psycho-political discharge. So it seems that in Iran, or in the case of these hackers at least, people do actually use ‘da Internetz’ or more than just downloading gigabytes of hardcore spank-film and buying useless junk from Amazon. Or at least, that’s what these backward fools want us to believe.

I guess what I find funny about the whole thing is that these righteous keyboard warriors think that by fucking with the Western Establishment (of which my blog is the absolute forefront of) we’re all going to stand up and say “Yes, let’s do whatever it is these hackers want us to do!” But in reality, it just makes most of us hate these beings of bellybutton lint even more.

To be honest, it’s not like it was that much of an effort to set right (only a quick email to my WP go-to guy and about 5 minutes of his time), but it’s still frustrating when something like this happens. On the bright side though, it’s given me a valid excuse to rant about something, which if I must admit, I rather like doing.

In conclusion, I have one final message for these hackers; whoever and wherever they may be.

Suck my balls.

That is all.

Twitter has announced a rescheduling of its maintenance downtime due to the controversy surrounding the Iranian election, in a bid to have the site up and running during the day in Teheran and pulling it down while Iran is sleeping.

Initially the downtime was conveniently going to take place at 12.45AM US ET (while there would have been a lot less traffic on the site), though it’s now been aimed to go down at 2PM Pacific.

This was taken from the Twitter blog:

“A critical network upgrade must be performed to ensure continued operation of Twitter. In coordination with Twitter, our network host had planned this upgrade for tonight. However, our network partners at NTT America recognize the role Twitter is currently playing as an important communication tool in Iran. Tonight’s planned maintenance has been rescheduled to tomorrow between 2-3p PST (1:30a in Iran).

Our partners are taking a huge risk not just for Twitter but also the other services they support worldwide—we commend them for being flexible in what is essentially an inflexible situation. We chose NTT America Enterprise Hosting Services early last year specifically because of their impeccable history of reliability and global perspective. Today’s decision and actions continue to prove why NTT America is such a powerful partner for Twitter.”
