The world of social media is growing and although there are loads of new ‘hot’ social sites popping up more regularly than a field of pimples on a oily-teenager’s face, most aren’t worth owrrying about too much. But every now and then a new social portal gets it right. And that site is the reason you’re here trying to learn how to get more Instagram followers, right?

To put it simply, Instagram is growing stupidly fast. And just like Twitter, already thousands of celebrities are using it to connect with their fans, just the same as they did on Twitter. Oh, and if you’re already losing faith in humanity, you might like to ignore the fact that shake-and-bake pop-gerbil Justin Bieber is already the most-followed person. Sometimes, I just want to set fire to everyone…

So without any further ado, here are my tips on how to get more followers on Instagram the fastest way possible:

1. Upload GOOD Content

Now I’m not trying to treat you like some mewling, slobbering, pant-crapping child here, but the first and probably most important thing to remember is that you should only be uploading your most impressive and best photos to your Instagram followers. Unless you’re a celebrity, (who thousands of mindless denizens of the web will follow anyway, regardless of what you post) nobody gives three craps that you’ve just folded your shirts and decided to show the world how awesome you are at it. The best way to look at it is as if you were a potential follower finding your own picture on Instagram. If you saw it, would you want to follow that person? If the answer is no, don’t post it. Posting only one quality photo a day is much more effective than posting a dozen which are the photographic equivalent of fingerpainting with feces.

2. Geo-tag Everything

One of the features of posting on Instagram is that you have the opportunity to geo-tag where you were at the time of taking the pic. You should do this ALWAYS. When you tag the location of a cafe you were at, event or something similar, it gives other people who were at that location the ability to see all the pics uploaded at the same location. Chances are, if someone is close to you geographically, they will want to keep updated with what you’re doing, resulting in a follow. This should be a fundamental of how to get more Instagram followers you should always take advantage of.

3. How To Get More Instagram Followers With Hashtags

Just like with Twitter marketing, you have the ability to attach up to 30 hashtags — similar to keywords — to every photo. It doesn’t take a noodle-surgeon to figure out these are a great way for people searching Instagram for certain topics to find content, or similar images. While it may seem more tedious than watching your grandmother knit a sweater for your pet hermit crab to attach 30 tags to every image you post, you should take into account that this is by far THE MOST EFFECTIVE TOOL for getting followers, especially when you’re new to Instagram. And for those of you with the attention span of a stoned sloth, there is a reason I capitalized that. Just be aware that whatever hashtags you do use are relevant to what you post, for example, using the hashtag #food when you post a picture of what you had for dinner. 4. Comment, Like, Comment, Repeat…

One of the best ways of getting targeted Instagram followers is by commenting and liking other photos, especially popular ones that are similar or relevant to yours. Now before you go and start becoming some kind of evil spam-demon and mass-liking everything you see, let me say that I only recommend you do this sparingly. The reason is that from time-to-time I do see people using the app that are getting more Instagram followers by just going out and ‘liking’ everything they see. It works, though only to a certain extent. You will get followers, but only in general those who are doing it to get follow-backs or something similar. The main aim of using this tactic is that you’re getting a large number of highly-targeted followers who will be interested in whatever you want to promote through IG. Unless you just want a bunch of moronic Bieber-fans, stick to my advice.

5. Promote Yourself Everywhere

This one should be common sense, though I’m going to mention it anyway. If you have other marketing channels (ie; blogs, Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, etc…) you should let your existing fans and followers know you’re now a member of the Instagram family so they can follow you there. The more you promote yourself elsewhere and let people know you’re now photo-blogging like a mad teenage hipster who’s just been given their first iPhone, the better your chances of harvesting new followers. Remember, social media success is all about perseverence and constant promotion. Get yourself out there.

Okay, so these four tips may sound simple, but should get you on the road to getting more followers on Instagram quite quickly. As always, the aim should be to get people following you who will be interested in what you have to post and won’t unfollow you as soon as you post a picture of your new kitten. How To Get More LinkedIn Connections

Like a dog inhaling the sweet, tantalising odour of a ripe animal carcass, you’ve come here because you want to know the secrets of how to get more LinkedIn connections. If you haven’t, then you seriously need some more training on your Internetz. Go watch some ‘lolcats’ or something.

But no, don’t do that because like the sorcerer of all things social-media that I am, I’m going to reveal to you how to boost your connections on the world’s most prominent business networking site. Which of course will mean more contacts and more cash-flow into your amazing business of selling hand-painted combs.

But, I kid. This is a serious post…

1. Spread The Word!

If you do any kind of marketing online (and I’m guessing you do considering the post your eyeballs are glued to right now) then it’s likely you’ve already got a tasty wad of online connections at your disposal. What I mean by this is a Facebook page, Twitter profile, email list, blog readership and so-on. And as these resources are already at your disposal, you’d have to be a silly sausage indeed if you didn’t regularly inform your existing contacts (at least once monthly) that you’re on LinkedIn and they should scurry along and connect with you. This is by far the fastest and easiest ways to begin getting more LinkedIn connections. And its’ free. We all like free things. Especially love.

2. Search Your Contacts, Young Skywalker.

One amazingly-awesometastic feature of LinkedIn is being able to search your existing email contacts and finding out if they’re on LI so you can connect with them. It’s something you should have been first asked when you signed up, but if like me you skipped it the first time (In the words of Yoda; “An idiot, I was”) then maybe you should go and do it now. Go on. No, really. Go.

3. Simple, Boring but Effective

Another very easy way of how to get more connections on LinkedIn is simply to add your profile URL or a snippet saying “Connect with me on…” at the bottom of all your emails, newsletters and blog posts. And while this might sound about as obvious as a mustachioed whale wearing a tutu at a dinner party, you’d be surprised how many people don’t think of this one little trick. Especially if you’re like us and you send sometimes 150+ company emails a day, that little advertisement can have a big difference.

4. Get Searching

Alright, when you’ve exhausted all of those extremely-easy methods to boost your connections, you can start looking for outside ways to promote yourself. And when I say outside, I mean within the site itself. I’m sure you’re using LI because you want to connect with people in your industry, or key figures in companies that could use your products and/or services. This is when you use LinkedIn’s search function to start looking for these people and sending them a polite and friendly email on the site, letting them know why you should connect. And as you can only send a few of these introduction emails per month (kinda like a bad dating site), you should very carefully pick and choose who you send to. After all, making a connection with the assistant manager of a McDonalds in Manila will probably not help you much.

5. Paid LinkedIn Ads

In case you’ve been living under a sea-sponge and not actually looked around properly, you might like to know that LI has their own internal advertising system, similar to Adwords or something like that. While I’ll admit this can be a great way to advertise yourself and can result in lots of connections, the pay-per-click or CPM cost of this is freakin’ expensive to say the least and can end up being extremely costly unless you really know what you’re doing. Exercise caution the first time you launch a campaign and if you’re not converting every $5 into at least a couple of new contacts, you should seek help.

Look, there are probably other ways of how to get more connections on LinkedIn, however I’ve just listed those here that I’ve personally used in the past and I know work. Just keep in mind that if you are searching for other ways of boosting your contacts, remember it’s not always paid options that work the best.

Should You Buy Google Plus Friends?

As with Facebook and Twitter, there will surely be companies everywhere offering for you to buy Google Plus friends. And as we here at uSocial were the first company in the world to offer the sale of these services on the latter two sites, it stands to reason that like a Gestapo officer with a pistol, we should be listened to.

However, we don’t necessarily think it’s good idea to seek out these services on the social networking site that the “Big G” has recently launched. Why, I hear you ask? Well…

…we’ve already tested it for you. And the results were…well, just read on.

To start with, as soon as Google Plus launched we tested whether or not we could sell customers like you fans, followers or whatever else you want to call them. I mean, it is the business we’re in, so we’d be stupid not to, right? Well, the fact is it didn’t work out as well as we’d hoped. For a start, although we easily generated over 3,000 new friends (3,154 to be exact) on our test page in less than four days, the result of targeted promotion to them went much more poorly than we’d expected. And when I say poorly, it was like throwing liquid feces at potential customers and hoping they’d buy.

Now at first we thought that we’d simply done something severely wrong. That despite being the most experienced people in the industry when it comes to fan/follower services, we’d just slipped up like a model on a runway.

So, we tested again with a different account. This time we targeted our potential audience even closer and went with an even-smaller group of only around 1,000. But again, after sending a week’s worth of promotions, we’d barely brought in $105.

We FAILED.

After our second miserable failure, we sat around in thought picking lice from each other’s backs like the stupefied primates we are and had a good long hard think about it. The question on our mind quite simply was “If we can do this with great success on Twitter, YouTube, Tumblr and Facebook, what’s wrong with us when it comes to Google Plus?”

In the end, we realised our problem had nothing to do with the way we were generating friends to our circles, or promoting to them. We hadn’t degenerated into drooling microbial spit wads that had no idea of what to do in our industry anymore. Quite simply it was all to do with…

…how Google Plus users interact.

Let me explain.

Although you’ll get the same people using Facebook, Twitter, Google Plus and every other social networking site imaginable, they use each site in different ways. For example, I use my LinkedIn profile a lot different than I use my personal Facebook page. I’d NEVER post about how I crashed my car into a zombie-elephant, went to a friend’s birthday dressed as Sailor Mercury or inhaled a moth last Tuesday to my connections on LinkedIn, because it’s a totally different crowd. However, if I had done those things I’d surely tell my Facebook friends about it. You jive, turkey?

What we found is that the crowd on Google Plus — or at least what people use it for — is something like LinkedIn. A place to share quality information and connect, but not as a place to promote or receive the promotion of services. Like a bee sting to the scrotum, they simply don’t fancy that kinda stuff on there very much.

In short, it’s not worth the effort to buy Google Plus friends because marketing to them in the end is about as easy as solving a Rubik’s cube while on fire. Regardless of how high-quality they are.

Anyway, I’m not going to clutter this article up any further with what you’ve come to love from my astounding wit (modest, right?) and I’ll just get on with giving you some tips on what you’re here to learn.

1. Harvest Them From Your Existing Sources

To anyone that knows even the smallest microbial morsel about marketing, this should have been the first obvious thing to do. Namely, tell everyone on your Facebook, Twitter, newsletter, blog, carrier pigeon network, knitting group and anywhere else that you already have influence that you’re now on Google Plus. I shouldn’t have to explain to you why this is a good idea, but in short it’s a fast, free and easy way to begin your following on this site. And to be honest, I can’t really think of any reason why you wouldn’t do this immediately. So go on, go do it!

2. How To Get More Google Plus Followers With Blog Posts

The second way of how to get more followers on Google plus is again quite simple, but I guarantee will be overlooked by many. And like a vast sack of soggy bibles thrown from an airplane, the next big thing has landed in front of us with a meaty ‘thud’ in the form of Google+ (plus, for those of you not adept at symbology).

While the rules of marketing on this new and ever-so-tasty social site are quite similar to what you’d do on say, Twitter or Facebook, there are some things you should keep in mind. So like a drunken homeless exhibitionist in Central Park, I’m going to quickly reveal to you some tips on how to make money on Google+ Plus.

1. Remember, this isn’t Facebook.

The first thing you should keep in mind when starting your marketing on Google’s new social site is that this definitely shouldn’t be regarded as your new FB profile. It’s no understatement to say that there are literally billions of dollars to be made on Facebook, this point made even truer by the fact this site now eclipses the mighty ogre that is Google when it comes to pure traffic. Despite this however, most folk are still content with promoting stuff through SEO, Adwords and just about anything else that the ‘Big G’ controls.

While these two groups of Tumblrphiles are quite different creatures, there is one thing that both have in common. That is, the strong desire to learn how to get more Tumblr followers. For the emo-hipsters this is merely an ego-driven thing, but for marketers it’s definitely more to do with the bottom line — earning more of those tasty, tasty dollars.

Now as we all know that hipsters cannot read, I’m guessing you’re a marketer or webpreneur looking to boost your following to promote your site, blog or product. And the good thing for you is that this information will work very well for you indeed.

But it doesn’t matter who you are, let’s take a look at the best ways to get more Tumblr followers and how you can do it fast.

1. Buy Tumblr Followers

While some might think of this as the cheats way out, you can actually buy Tumblr followers and there are many reasons that you might consider this. And as we know people are fickle creatures (especially Tumblr-dwellers), the better the name of your blog, the more clicks to it you’ll get, so it pays to come up with something catchy. As an example, “My Art Blog” is a much, much weaker and less-interesting blog title than “Crunchy Art From Space”, which would likely draw a lot more clicks to it. Remember, as you’ll be doing a lot of reblogging and ‘liking’ to get traffic, people are only going to see your name. Make it count.

5. Post Interesting Content

This should be a no-brainer. The more unique, interesting and compelling content you post on Tumblr, the greater the chance of you getting more Tumblr followers. Now, you’d have to be an absolute simpleton with a brainpan full of mushed, rotting straw and worms not to understand this point, but in case you are as described, let me make this easy to understand. If you post great stuff that people love, laugh at or find visually appealing, people will follow you. We conducted a study on six Tumblr blogs (oooooh…how scientific-like) and found that content with images, or just images alone, were 327% more likely to be liked or reblogged than plain text content. I really don’t know how much more simply I could explain that to you. So, I won’t.

Now then, this is more than enough information for you to start getting more Tumblr followers and you should find your numbers increasing quite quickly if you just put a few of these tips into practice. By far the easiest method is to buy followers on Tumblr, but if you don’t have the cash to outlay, then simply follow tips #2-#6 and you will see results.
